Megan Sluhocki, who will graduate from the Williamsport Area High School in June as a member of the Class of 2013, will serve as the first student representative on the WASD Alumni Association Board of Directors for the 2012-13 school term.
"As the first student liaison, I am looking forward to bringing together two groups that have not interacted," Sluhocki said. "I am excited to be able to better the school and my class by bringing us closer to the WASD community. I am really looking forward to making an impact this year."
Sluhocki is a member of National Honor Society, involved with the improvisational acting troupe Without a Cue, has had involvement with Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), the Dead Language Society, and holds an authoritative spot in Model U.N. and Mock Constitutional Convention.

In the community, she dedicates her time to plays with the United Methodist Church of Christ for charities, as well as acting and stage-managing at the Community Theatre League.
In her role as an ex-officio member of the alumni board, Sluhocki will serve as a communication tool in the Alumni Association's efforts to reach and form a connection with the senior class and the rest of the student body, such as by organizing special events to help set students in the career path of their choosing. In addition, she will help keep the board abreast of news and events taking place around campus.
"I hope for this organization to really get to know what high school is like now," she said. "I hope they open themselves up to the differences from their time, and help the kids of today reach their potential. WAHS is so full of talent and potential, I hope for the board to tap into that and unlock it."
The senior will officially take on her role during the Alumni Association's board meeting on Sept. 19 when she will co-lead a tour of the high school to help get the board reacquainted - if not introduced - to the building and what it offers.
Upon graduation, Sluhocki, the daughter of Mary Jo and Dr. Mark Sluhocki, plans to pursue a career in public relations.
