Carl E. Boyles, 94, of 424 Weldon St., Montoursville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Sycamore Manor.
Born March 21, 1918, in Hillsgrove, he was a son of the late Charles and Sadie (Howard) Boyles. On Oct. 27, 1939, he married the former Geneva S. McCarty. Together they observed 68 years until her death on March 25, 2008.
As a young adult, Carl worked in the C.C.C. camp located at Dry Run. He then went to work at the former International Furniture, later Schnadig Corporation, in Montoursville. Carl eventually accepted a position with the former Williamsport Furniture Co. until they closed, and then worked at the former Ray-O-Vac in South Williamsport until retiring.

Carl spent many nights square dancing with his wife in their younger years. He was proud of his gardening skills and enjoyed hunting with his family every fall.
Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene E. and Mary Boyles of Montoursville, Robert C. and Laura Boyles of Muncy Valley, Donald S. "Doc" and Bonnie Boyles of Montoursville and William C. and Christine Boyles of Pennsdale; ten grandchildren, Patsy Stackhouse, Jeffrey Boyles, Roberta Boyles, Robert Boyles, Richard Boyles, Douglas Boyles, Meghan Graham, Jeremy Boyles, Nicole Hawk and Stephanie Mutchler; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by six brothers, Howard, Charles, Donald, Sidney, Walter and Gordon, and two sisters, Pearl Davis and Hazel Ketchum.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. Interment will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 10 to 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
