Barbara A. Summerson, 80, of Lock Haven passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Susque-View.
She was born Aug. 26, 1932, in Lock Haven, the daughter of Dorsey and Helen (Simcox) Barnard.
During her life she was employed by several area restaurants as a cook and waitress, including the Lock Haven Allegheny Creamery, the Buffalo Inn, the Flagstone and Avis Legion.
She enjoyed crocheting, collecting dolls, baking, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Phillies.
Surviving are four daughters, Terry (John) Aurand, Barbara (Chet) Clements, Merry (Randy Carson) Summerson all of Jersey Shore, Wenda (Steve) Hibbler; a son, George (Kaye) Summerson both of Lock Haven; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, James Barnard of Jersey Shore, Bruce Frank and Glenn Frank both of Mill Hall; two sisters, Mary Jane Hoover of Jersey Shore and Phyllis Gombos of Phoenixville.
She was predeceased by a son, Winfield Summerson Jr.; a granddaughter, Megan Ann and a brother, William.
Barbara's Life Celebration will begin with a visitation from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd. "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. Services will be held at the funeral home 10 a.m. Wednesday with Dennis Callahan, chaplain of Susque-view officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Her family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the charity of donor's choice.
