Behind two assists from Pat Marion and a goal and an assist from Luke Klinger, Lycoming College took down Penn State York, 5-0. The win gives Lycoming's men's soccer team a win in the season opener for the fourth consecutive year.
In women's soccer, Stephanie Gomes and Francesca Gibson each scored two goals as Montclair State crusied past Lycoming College, 8-0, in the season opener.
Lock Haven's Taylor Kennedy found the back of the net with 5:57 to go in overtime, giving the Lady Eagles field hockey team a 2-1 win over Cornell. Kelly Harsch scored the first goal for Lock Haven, in the 57th minute.
The Lock Haven women's volleyball team dropped both matches at the Hemmingway's Island Grill Invitational in Pensacola, Fla. The Lady Eagles dropped the first match, 3-1, to No. 2 Tampa, and the second match, 3-1, to West Florida.
Former Lock Haven University track and field members, Ryan Blood and Nick Hilton, were part of the 10-member relay team that set the world record in the 1,000-mile relay in State College on Friday. The 1,000-mile relay took 95 hours, three minutes and one second to complete.
In boys soccer, Liberty opened its season with a 9-0 victory over Jersey Shore in its season-opening tournament. Up next in today's final is Sayre, a 7-1 victor over Montgomery.
