Rodger L. Swartz

Rodger L. Swartz, 62, of 182 Route 220 Highway, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.

Born May 8, 1950, in Muncy Township, Lycoming County, Pa., he was a son of the late Paul John and Ople B. (DeWald) Swartz.

Rodger was a 1969 graduate of Muncy High School. He enjoyed animals and spent most of his life farming.

Rodger was on the board of the Muncy Township planning committee. He was also a member of Sammy's coffee club and Fry's coffee club.

Surviving are four brothers and sisters-in-law, Grant and Helen Swartz of Salona, Roy and Margaret Swartz of Muncy, Carl and Joyce Swartz of Montgomery and Owen and Sandra Swartz of Picture Rocks; four sisters, Beula Swartz of Muncy, Helen Bigger of Pennsdale, Marlene Gibbs of Eagles Mere and Doris Swartz and her companion Richard of Muncy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth George and Arlan P. Swartz.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Grenoble's, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Jonathan W. Baker, pastor of Trinity Assembly of God, Montoursville.

Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest contributions in Rodger's name be made to the S.P.C.A., 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
