A Scott Street man who called city police to report that his wallet was stolen from the the Fifth Avenue Tavern ended up being taken away in handcuffs after officers learned there was a bench warrant for his arrest.
Jameel Rajee Mincey, 33, of 1609 Scott St., called police to the business on Fifth Avenue about 9 p.m. on April 19. Shortly after officers arrived, they discovered there was warrant for his arrest. As he was being searched, police discovered that he had three tablets of alprazolam, a medicine to treat anxiety, without a prescription.
Charged with possession of a controlled substance, Mincey has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Allen P. Page III. On another criminal matter, he has been charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants or a controlled substance in the 600 block of Memorial Avenue on June 14. He has already waived his preliminary hearing in this case.
