A city man faces charges for allegedly striking a 7-year-old boy on the buttocks several times with a fishing rod, city police said.
Darryl Lamont Franklin, 38, of 830 Park Place, has been charged with simple assault, endangering the welfare of a child and harassment as a result of the incident which occurred at his home on Aug. 18, police said.
The injuries to the boy, who is the son of Franklin's girlfriend, included "deep tissue bruising and sores," police said. The county's Department of Children and Youth is also investigating the matter.
Following his arraignment before District Judge James H. Sortman on Aug. 23, Franklin, now living at 653 Hepburn St., was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.
