Gerald F. "Jerry" Berfield, 80, of Ocala, Fla., joined his wife Lois in Eternity from his residence on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012.
He was born in Sinnamahoning, Pa., on Feb. 6, 1932, to the late Lester and Violet (Haynes) Berfield.
He was a 1950 graduate of Williamsport High School, Pa., and served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. He was employed with Westvaco (formerly C.A. Reed) of Williamsport, Pa., as a supervisor for many years before retiring in 1993. He and his wife moved to Ocala in 1995 from Williamsport. Jerry loved to joke and laugh and loved his family.

He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Lois E. (Mitcheltree) Berfield in 2009; brother, Earl Berfield; and sister, Lorraine Knecht.
Jerry is survived by his children, Gwenda L. Watkins and husband Daniel of Ocala, Fla., and Keith A Berfield of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; grandchildren, Brandi, David, William, Timothy, Amanda and Travis; siblings, Ardis Ireland of Williamsport, Pa., Lila Coleman of Mt. Dora, Fla., Wayne Berfield of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Carol Grove of Orlando, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 9695 SW 110th St., Ocala, FL 34482. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date with interment at Twin Hills Cemetery, Muncy, Pa. Contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
