The Loyalsock girls cross country team made a strong season debut Tuesday, winning three of four meets and beating Southern Columbia, Bloomsburg and Mifflinburg. Lexi Henninger finished in second place, coming in at a time of 22:06. Alexa Martin finished ninth in 25 minutes.
Paige Frantz won for Montoursville as it beat Sullivan County and Central Columbia by one point each.
Williamsport finished 3-1 in a quad meet with its lone loss coming to Danville. Sarah Wirth placed fifth overall.
In boys cross country, Kelby Mullen and Lucas Hatton finished 1-2 as Sullivan County swept Montoursville Central Columbia, and Shamokin.
Williamsport's Herb Stelly (2nd) and Chet Schwoyer (5th) both finished in the Top 5 and the Millionaires defeated Mount Carmel, Midd-West and Milton, but lost to host Danville.
In boys soccer, Sullivan County's Aaron Lewis scored off an assist from Jake Gavitt in the second half but the Griffins dropped their season opener to Benton, 4-1.
In girls tennis, Montoursville's three singles players all won in straight sets as the Warriors defeated Danville, 4-1, and improved to 7-1.
In girls volleyball, Wellsboro's Hannah Zuchowski had 18 kills and led the Green Hornets to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-23) sweep of Coudersport. Wellsboro is now 3-0 on the year.
