Hazen Welch Jr.

Hazen "Russ" Welch Jr., 87, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Valley View Nursing Home.

He was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Riverdale, Mich., the son of Hazen Sr. and Clara (Monks) Welch.

Hazen retired in 1980 as a driver with the U.S. Trucking Co.

"Russ" loved baseball, his family and driving his truck.

Early in life he enjoyed motorcycle riding and camping.

To his family he was known as the master fix it man.

Hazen is survived by a son, Doug "Russ" Welch of Fla.; three daughters, Debbe (Douglas) Jenks of Williamsport, DeeDe Medrano of Philadelphia and Dawn Perry of Glendale, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Phillip Welch of Lake Odessa, Mich.; a sister, Artie Wright of Michigan.

He was predeceased by his wife, Madeline Edwins Welch and five sisters.

In Hazen's memory, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701-1309.

Relatives and friends are invited to Hazen's Life Celebration service 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at the Door Fellowship, 470 Pine St., Williamsport, with Rev. Michael Holcomb officiating. A visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. Burial will be held in Mansion Memorial Park in Florida.
