William J. Carey III

William J. "Butch" Carey III, 68, of 406 Ansonia Court, Camillus, N.Y., died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Sunbury Community Hospital.

Born Nov. 27, 1943, in Elmira, N.Y., he was a son of the late William J. Carey Jr. and Elizabeth C. (Madigan) Carey, who survives.

He was a member of Church of the Resurrection, Muncy.

Butch enjoyed reading, word games and brushing up on his vocabulary skills. He was also an avid coin collector.

In addition to his mother of Lewisburg, he is survived by three brothers, Christopher M. (Pamela) Carey of Trumansburg, N.Y., James K. (Annie) Carey of Saugerties, N.Y., and Brian T. Carey of Syracuse, N.Y.; one sister, Maureen Ann (Wayne) Sain of Alamo, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth T. Carey, who died in 1945, and a brother, Terrence S. Carey, who died in 1947.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 10, at Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy. Officiating will be his pastor, Rev. Glenn McCreary.

There will be no visitation.

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery, Elmira, N.Y.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, PA 17756.
