Loyalsock defeated Hughesville, 5-0, in a battle of unbeatens on Wednesday in girls tennis. Loyalsock's three singles players - Pam Niditch, Emily Niditch - dropped just a combined six games.
The Lancers moved to 5-0 and Hughesville falls to 5-1.
Milton's Megan Rudloff won a three-set match at No. 1 singles and helped the Black Panthers complete a 5-0 sweep of Shikellamy.
Wellsboro's Kiana Acorn blanked?Williamson's Anna Copp, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 3 singles to help the Green?Hornets win, 6-1.
Maggie Manchester defeated Hunter Shaffer at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1, to propel Williamsport to a 4-1 win over Selinsgrove. The?Seals lone win came at No. 3 singles.
Matt Hibbs scored twice in under a minute's span late in the game to put Loyalsock past Montoursville, 2-0. The?Lancers' Tyler Quigley had an assist on Hibbs' second goal.
It was Loyalsock's first win of the season.
Despite South?Williamsport's Sage Schafer having 10 saves, Southern Columbia defeated the?Mounties, 1-0, to hand South Williamsport its season-opening loss.
In girls soccer, Troy defeated Wellsboro, 5-0, thanks to a three-goal performance in the second half. Wellsboro had 12 shots on goal.
Louisa Shedden finished the game with three goals for Troy.
After Asher Klahod scored to tie it up late in the second half, it was Gannon's Adam?Sharbaugh who put it away to lift No. 14 Gannon over Lock Haven, 2-1. Lock Haven goalie Chris Frederick made five saves in the loss.
James Quinn made eight saves for Lycoming, but Susquehanna used three first-half goals as it shut out the Warriors, 4-0.
Tarik Laroche had a goal and assist for Penn College, but Alfred State scored two goals in the second half en route to a 2-2 tie after two overtimes.
Gannon's Justine Rodriguez scored the game-winning goal at 79:37 to defeat Lock Haven, 1-0, in women's soccer. Lock Haven outshot Gannon, 12-6, and putting six shots on net.
Carly Collins scored off a corner kick from Marissa Spitler to tie it up against Mansfield, but after two overtimes, East Stroudsburg and Mansfield ended with a 1-1 tie.
Rosemont College's Courtney Whelan scored the only goal against Penn College, handing the Wildcats the 1-0 loss. The Wildcats' and former Warrior?Run Defender Reda Vermilya had nine saves in the loss.
