A recent letter stated, in part, that "Every true American knows the American flag gets displayed always above other flags...".
Actually the U.S. Flag Code allows for other flags to be placed on the same level as the U.S. flag, as long as the U.S. flag is in its position of honor to the viewer's left.
Specifically, Section 7 (Position and Manner of Display) states "No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America...". This refers to the flag's own right, or as seen from the street, no other flag or pennant should be placed above or to the left of Old Glory.
