Two-time defending PIAA girls soccer champion Warrior Run opened its season with a 5-1 win Friday at Mifflinburg as Taylor Landis scored three times in the first half.
Williamsport dropped its opener, 3-1 to Midd-West. Olivia Mendler scored for the Millionaires.
Behind four goals and an assist by Brittany Snyder, Hughesville defeated Jersey Shore, 7-0. Melanie Santo added two goals and an assist of her own in the win.
Wellsboro peppered Williamson with 36 shots on goal, connecting on six en route to a 6-0 win. Sarah Ingerick and Sarah Kramer both scored two goals each for Wellsboro.
In girls tennis, Liberty swept all seven matches to defeat Williamson, 7-0. Liberty's Noelle Payne and Katey McCloskey both scored wins in singles as well as doubles.
Milton won all five matches, defeating Lewisburg 5-0. After dropping the first set, Milton's Megan Rudloff won the final two sets, 6-0, 6-0, to defeat Rachel Lipski in the number one singles.
After dropping its first four matches, Lock Haven picked up its first two wins of the season in women's volleyball. The Lady Eagles took down Malone, 3-2, and LIU-Post, 3-1.
Bethany Richardson led the way with 13 kills as the Lycoming College Warriors defeated York (Pa.), 3-2. The Warriors improve to 5-1 on the season with the win.
