Montoursville Area School Board hired Curtis Myers as assistant principal at McCall Middle School during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night.
Myers, 39, most recently was employed by the Loyalsock Township School District as a learning support teacher for fourth- and fifth-grade students.
He began his career with Intermediate Unit 17 as an emotional support teacher.
Myers said he is looking forward to working in the district.
"It's a pleasure to be here," he said, following the meeting. "It's a wonderful school district."
In other matters, the third day of school student enrollment figures show a slight drop in the number of pupils in the district.
Overall, 1,985 students are enrolled this year, compared to 1,991 students in 2011-12.
Since the 2008-09 school year, enrollment has fallen by 44 students.
The biggest classes in the district are in the fourth and 11th grades, each with 159 students.
The district's sixth grade has just 135 students, the smallest class in the district.
Lyter and Loyalsock Valley Elementary Schools have gained a total of 30 students since last year.
Meanwhile, 42 fewer students than last year are attending McCall Middle School and the high school.
