The Bowman Field Commission is planning to walk through Bowman Field before a planned ice rink is built on the infield early next month.
"We want to check around for any maintenance issues, and the introduction of the public ice rink and Williamsport Outlaws hockey club are additional elements," said Lou Hunsinger Jr., commission chairman, on Tuesday. Bowman Field is home to the Williamsport Crosscutters Single-A New York-Penn League baseball team.
"The Crosscutters aren't playing a role in the commission walk-through ... other than opening up the field for us," Hunsinger said.
The Crosscutters have identified maintenance needs. Some painting was discussed in April but more recently concern exists about roof leaks in portions of the grandstand, Hunsinger said.
The ice rink is for public use and for the home games of the Outlaws, a hockey team in the Federal Hockey League, which has its home opener Oct. 24.
