MANSFIELD - Zach J. Disante, 18, of Palermo, N.J., was charged by university police with possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and underage drinking.

According to documents filed at District Judge James Carlson's office, police were dispatched to Room 421B in the Maple dormitory at the university after residence hall staff reported finding contraband in the room Aug. 30.

Police said they found two small Ziplock baggies containing marijuana on the floor near a duffle bag and 37 more baggies with marijuana in the bag, along with a digital scale for weighing the drug and 26 cans of Miller Lite beer.

The student was jailed in lieu of $2,500 bail and his preliminary hearing set for Sept. 19.
