Williamsport's Sara Wirth took first place in a girls cross country meet held at Sullivan County on Thursday. Wirth won in a time of 23 minutes, 58 seconds in a field that featured seven teams. Hughesville's Hannah Merrifield was second in 24:45. Bridget Paonessi was Sullivan County's top finisher in 26:47.
Sullivan County's Kelby Mullen took first place in a seven-team cross country meet, finishing the 3.1-mile course in 19:42. Williamsport's Herb Stelly was third in 20:09, and Warrior Run's Spencer Williamson was fifth in 20:58.
In girls tennis, Loyalsock swept Central Columbia, 5-0, and didn't drop any sets while improving to 10-0.
Ivy Rose Kramer beat Kelly Read 7-5 (5), 7-6 (2) at No. 1 singles to lift Bloomsburg past Muncy, 3-2.
Jersey Shore took all but No. 2 doubles in a 4-1 win over Lewisburg.
Liberty swept the doubles against Towanda and defeated the Black Knights, 4-3.
In boys soccer, Liberty's J.J. Walker and Nathaniel Wilston each scored twice to lift the Mounties to a 7-1 win over Towanda.
In girls soccer, Montoursville's Lana Spitler and Carly Mill took turns scoring and setting up the other as Mill finished with two goals and Spitler one in the Warriors' 3-1 win over Selinsgrove.
Three players scored and Morgan Bower made some key first-half saves as South Williamsport beat Benton, 3-1.
Laura Bastian and Taylor Landis each scored a goal and added an assist as Warrior Run beat Hughesville, 3-0.
Williamsport's Olivia Mendler scored with 20 minutes to go in the second half to help the Millionaires salvage a 1-1 tie with Shikellamy.
Emily Sholder and Stephanie Fernandez tallied for St. John Neumann, but the team's first goals weren't enough as Millville claimed a, 12-2, win.
In women's soccer, Amanda Alex scored 7:14 into the first overtime as Lock Haven beat St. Thomas Aquinas, 4-3.
In college volleyball, Lycoming junior Shelby Gear led the way with 13 kills and four blocks as the Warriors posted a 3-1 (25-19, 27-25, 26-24, 23-25) win over Mount Aloysius.
