LEWISBURG - A panel of Bucknell University faculty will discuss "Election Matters" at 7 tonight in Trout Auditorium of the Vaughan Literature Building.
The panel discussion, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Bucknell Institute for Public Policy.
Speakers are: Paula Kazi, assistant professor of economics, who will discuss immigration policy proposals; Greg Krohn, associate professor of economics, who will discuss the "fiscal cliff" and what it means; Chris Magee, professor of economics, who will talk about the state of the macroeconomy (unemployment) and how it might impact voting; Scott Meinke, associate professor of political science, who will be discussing why candidates engage in campaigns if elections are mostly decided by the economic conditions; Nancy White, professor of economics, who will discuss the tax policy proposals, social security and the impact on state budgets; Amy Wolaver, associate professor of economics and director of the Bucknell Institute for Public Policy, who will discuss the proposed healthcare policies of both candidates.
The Bucknell Institute for Public Policy supports social science research, analysis, and teaching on campus and beyond, and provides a forum for contemporary public policy discussion.
