Jerry J. Holdren Sr., 84, of Rose Valley Road, passed away Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at his residence. He was born June 10, 1928, in Montoursville a son of Jason and Elsie (Mundrick) Holdren.
Jerry enjoyed working in the woods where he spent his working life as a woodsman. He also enjoyed hunting, taking care of his animals, and being with his family.
On June 1, 2008, he was predeceased by his wife, the former Eldora M. Meuse. He is also predeceased by his son, Jerry J. Jr.; a granddaughter, Celeste; sisters, Betty Helm, and Carol Fleming, and by his brothers, Bill, Roy, Lawrence, and Joe.
He is survived by his son, David L. (Midge) Holdren of Trout Run; daughter-in-law Twila Holdren of Trout Run; brother, Cliff (Evelyn) Holdren of Rose Valley; sisters, Mary Phillips of Trout Run, Ann (Alden) Evans of Cascade, and Sandy (Sheldon) Thompson of Cascade; five grandchildren, Jenna and Kalee Holdren, Lowell Rennicks, Wendy Yarborough, Jeri Lynn Cochran, and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. Fred J Fields officiating. Interment will follow in the Trout Run Cemetery. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
