Betty J. Eddy 85 of 1434 Walnut St., Jersey Shore, died Wednesday September 12, 2012, in the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 21, 1926, in Jersey Shore.
She was the daughter of James L. Thomas and the former Rachel S. Eck. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Robert N. Eddy May 10, 1981. They were united in marriage May 10, 1947, in the Trinity United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore. She retired after 20 years of service with PPL.
Betty was a lifelong member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, and an active member of the Order of Amaranth, BPW and the Ivanhoe Chapter No. 28 Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by five daughters, Candace L. (Tom) Ungard of Avis, Nancy A. Bardo of Jersey Shore, Norma J. (Ron) Aungst of Jersey Shore, Catherine S. (Bob) Campbell of Charlotte, N.C. and Vicki L. Mayes of Jersey Shore; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother Russell E. (Connie) Thomas of Lititz, Pa.; two sisters Shirley M. Greene of Jersey Shore and Anna E. "Skip" Lowell of Hiram, Ohio. Betty was preceded in death by a brother Robert L. Thomas. Funeral services will be Monday Sept. 17, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1407 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Sept. 16, 2012, in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. A service of memorial will be conducted by the Order of Amaranth at 4 p.m. Sunday followed by a service of memorial by the Order of Eastern Star. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. Rev. Helen Learn her pastor will officiate.
Family will provide flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made in her name to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1407 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740.
