Sophie E. Guinter, 67, of Williamsport, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at her residence.
Born Feb. 23, 1945, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Richard E. Dougherty Sr. and Mae Huntington, and stepdaughter of Clyde Huntington.
Sophie had previously been employed as a manager for Cobbler's Shoe Outlet. She also has worked as a waitress at the Williamsport Moose Lodge.
Sophie was a member of Newberry Church of Christ where she also helped with church activities. She enjoyed bingo, cooking and being with her family.
Surviving are her children, George (Vicki) Roles of Barclay, Md., Nancy Wheeland of Lock Haven and Helen Hills of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Raymond and Richard Dougherty; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorland F. Guinter and a sister, Sarah Scott.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Newberry Church of Christ, 822 Diamond St., Williamsport, with her Pastor, Ron Savits, officiating. There will be a viewing Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St.
Interment will be in Montoursville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Newberry Church of Christ.
