The Lycoming County Conservation District will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday celebrating the opening of the Lycoming County Conservation Learning Trail.
The 2 p.m. ceremony will be at the County Farm at the Lysock View Complex on County Farm Road, Loyalsock Township.
The half-mile trail runs along farm fields, through forest and to an overlook above Loyalsock Creek. It offers scenic views of the County Farm and valley.
A variety of environmental educational items are located along the trail. They include markers identifying native and invasive species, a deer enclosure and interpretive panels. The trail will serve as an open space classroom providing a variety of educational activities in a natural setting.
The event will include complimentary refreshment, a guided trail tour, trail trivia contest and remarks by local officials. Comfortable attire for the tour is suggested.
