Muncy Garden Club to meet at 7 tonight

MUNCY - The Muncy Garden Club will meet at 7 tonight at St. James Parish Hall, 215 S. Main St.

The meeting will feature Joyce Wilson, who will guide attendees through a simple seasonal flower arrangement. There is a fee to participate. Reservations may be made by calling Patti at 971-5387.

Refreshments will be provided by Lois Velkoff and Lana Newman.

Marine Corps group to meet tonight in city

The Williamsport Detachment of the Marine Corps League will meet at 7:30 tonight at the detachment headquarters, 507 Cemetery St.

The meeting is open to all active duty and honorably discharged Marines and Navy Corpsmen. For more information, call 323-9900.

The group also will sell hot dogs and sodas from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Gander Mountain, Pennsdale.

Lock Haven announces Astronomical Fridays

LOCK HAVEN - Lock Haven University will present its annual Astronomical Fridays program to the community and region. Individuals and groups of all ages are invited to these free presentations.

The programs include an afternoon planetarium show and an evening outdoor sky watch scheduled for the following dates: Friday, Oct. 19, Nov. 16, Feb. 8, March 15 and April 12.

All planetarium shows begin at 12:30 p.m. in room 232 Ulmer Hall. Astronomical Fridays "Under the Stars" will begin at 8 p.m., except for April, which will have a start time of 9 p.m.

All observations will take place at the Farrandsville Road Playing fields.

Observation will feature the moon, planets, stars, star clusters, stellar nurseries, stellar corpses and galaxies.

The program is free and open to the public.

Community yard sales set

The Williamsport Crosscutters will host the annual fall community yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Bowman Field.

Dozens of vendors will be set up in the parking lot of Historic Bowman Field selling crafts, antiques, collectibles, new items, household goods, flea market items and food.
