Texas man sentenced to state prison for vehicular homicide

WELLSBORO - Brandon Davidson, 33, of Perryton, Texas, was sentenced this week in Tioga County Court to five to 10 years in state prison for vehicular homicide.

He was among 11 people sentenced Monday.

Davidson was charged in connection with the death last October of Lauralee Widmer, 36, of Terrytown, La.

According to court documents, Davidson lost control of his pickup truck as he drove north toward New York state and hit the southbound Widmer head-on.

In addition to homicide by vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, Davidson's charges included two counts of drunken driving.

Davidson pleaded no contest to the charges and was given credit for 333 days time served and fined $5,000.

One other person was sentenced to state prison. He was:

Nicholas D. Wivell, 24, of 680 Mack Road, Covington, 3 1/2 to 10 years in state prison for two counts of driving under the influence of intoxicants, plus a $1,500 fine.

Five people were sentenced to county prison. They were:

Lovejoy S. Thomson, 24, of 151 S. Williamson Road, Blossburg, three to 12 months for theft.

Christopher L. Jones, 32, of Erie, five years supervision for driving under the influence of intoxicants with 90 days in jail, 30 days on electronic monitoring and a $1,500 fine.

Jamie Gardner, 28, of 16 McInroy St., five years supervision for driving under the influence of intoxicants with 90 days in jail, credit for time served and a $1,500 fine.

Robert A. Goodrow, 44, of Donna, Texas, six months supervision for driving under the influence of intoxicants with five days in jail and a $300 fine.

Darren Giles, 27, of 304 Davis St., Blossburg, six months supervision for driving under the influence of intoxicants with 48 hours in jail and a $500 fine.

Four people were sentenced to probation. They were:

Brian M. Fosko, 20, of Bath, 24 months for criminal mischief, flight to avoid apprehension and underage drinking and $175 fine.

Darron M. Giles, 27, of 2874 Route 660, Mansfield, 15 months for fleeing and eluding a police officer and a $500 fine.

William J. Ruditys, 47, of 558 Jemison Road, Westfield, 12 months for criminal mischief and a $150 fine.

Joanne L. Cole, 42, of 318 North St., Ulysses, 12 months for bad checks. She was also fined $100 and must pay $634 restitution to the Northern Tier Veterinary Clinic.
