Lycoming Chapter NSDAR celebrates Constitution Week

The week of Sept. 17 through 23 is the 225th national celebration of the U.S. Constitution.

The Lycoming Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution held a constitution week luncheon at noon Sept. 11 at the Woman's Club of Williamsport.

Guest speaker was state Rep. Garth Everett, R-Muncy, who discussed with the members the pros and cons of the new voter identification at the polls in November.

A daylong display took place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the James V. Brown Library. On display were various booklets, pamphlets, book markers and activities about the framers, and the constitution, the Civil War and flag information. Videos continued throughout the day on the Bill of Rights and Amendments, the U.S. Constitution, "Just the Facts" and "A more perfect Union."

At 4 p.m. Sunday the area will join in with churches and fellow countrymen across the nation in the ringing of "Bells Across America."
