Rev. Lynn A. Wheeler, 59, of 415 Willow St., Montoursville, passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at The Gatehouse.
He was born June 9, 1953, in Sayre, a son of Francis and Evelyn Tubbs Wheeler.
Known for his shepherd's heart, Rev. Lynn was a pastor of Community Baptist Church for 25 years. The great passions of his life were his family and the people he served. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid outdoorsman.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, the former Roberta A. "Birdie" Cole; three sons, Nathan A. (Eliane) of Florida, Darin M. (Stephanie) of Williamsport and Drew A. (Shanna) of Montoursville; two brothers, Gary (Debbie) of Sayre and Greg (Tonia) of Athens; two sisters, Linda (Larry) Hall of Athens and Gail (Richard) Wilkenson of Waverly; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at Community Baptist Church, 1853 St. Route 87, Montoursville. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received Sunday at the church from 2 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the church building fund or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
