John A. Mallory, 92, of Montoursville, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, in ManorCare South, Williamsport.
Born Aug. 6, 1920, in Heilwood, Pa., he was a son of the late Robert and Elva (McCarty) Mallory.
John married Norma (McClure) in 1943, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 19, 2008.
He served in the Air Force and was a veteran of World War II. He was retired from Sylvania.
John was a charter member and helped organize the beginning of the First Christian Church of Montoursville. He was very active in the Church and also served as an Elder.
John was an avid HAM radio operator, he enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, camping and traveled throughout the United States on several occasions.
In addition to his wife Norma, John was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Thomas, George, William, Richard, James; and three sisters, Irene Jones, Jeanette Seidinski and Helen Greenawalt.
He is survived by five sisters, Marion Wilhelm and husband Robert of Sanborn, N.Y., Ruth Peace of Punxsutawney, Jane Cameron of Rossiter, Nancy Elbel and husband Jay of Rossiter, Joan Pearce and husband Harvey of Punxsutawney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday Sept. 23, 2012, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport.
A funeral service will be held at the First Christian Church of Montoursville, 5329 Lycoming Mall Drive, Montoursville, at 10 a.m. Monday with Pastor Elmer Fritz officiating. Interment will be at the McClure Cemetery, Big Run, Pa.; Monday in the afternoon on Sept. 24, 2012.
