A New York state man faces theft-related charges for allegedly selling stolen silver bars and coins to Blair Brothers Goldsmith, 2350 E. Third St., according to state police.
The Loyalsock Township jewelry business had no idea that the silver bars and coins Nicholas Everett Rathbun, of Cortland, sold at the store in mid-March 2011 were stolen in a burglary in a small community east of Rathbun's home, police said.
Following his recent arraignment before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman on charges of theft by deception and receiving stolen property, Rathbun, 24, initially was committed to the Lycoming County Prison but since has been released on $15,000 bail.
