Local roundup: Montgomery tennis wins

Montgomery's Sydney Schoch won the Red Raiders' lone singles match in a 3-2 win over Muncy in high school tennis on Thursday. Emily Shnyder and Kayley Harer, as well as Katie Scarborough and Arissa LeBlanc teamed up for doubles wins for Montgomery.

Hughesville swept the singles matches in straight sets, including Kelsey McCabe's 6-0, 6-4 win at first singles in the Spartans' 4-1 win over South Williamsport. Olivia Gorg and Anna Trevouledes also won at second doubles for Hughesville.

Montoursville won all but No. 1 singles to beat Milton, 4-1, and improve to 10-2 on the season.

Williamsport's Maggie Manchester dropped just two games in a straight-sets victory at No. 1 singles during the Millionaires' 4-1 win over Danville.

In girls soccer, Montoursville got goals from three players, including the game-winner from Nicole Wiser on a Carly Mill assist in a 3-0 win over Milton. Kiersten O'Malley and Lana Spitler also scored for the Warriors.

Savannah Bross scored with two assists as Danville beat Williamsport, 4-0.

Addie Jordan and Sadie Lewis each scored two goals as Sullivan County downed St. John Neumann, 5-0. Sullivan County posted 37 shots on goal and three corners.

Taylor Landis scored two goals and assisted on two more in Warrior Run's 4-0 win over Jersey Shore.

In boys soccer, Cody Schmouder scored on an assist from Tyler Upham in double overtime to give Liberty a 1-0 win over Williamson. Reese Correll made five saves for Liberty.

In high school golf, Loyalsock/Montoursville's Taylor Krout finished even-par at Shade Mountain to lead all golfers, but Shikellamy led all HAC-I teams with a score of 334.

At the HAC-II meet at White Deer, Lewisburg finished first with a team total of 426.

In volleyball, Williamson's Kaitlyn Bailey recorded 13 points and Lindsea Jones had 10 assists in a 3-0 win over Galeton. Williamson won by scores of, 25-5, 25-12, 26-24.

In women's soccer, playing its second game in as many days, Lycoming played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw with Penn College.

In men's soccer, Milton graduate Tarik LaRoche scored a second-half goal to help Penn College defeat Mount Aloysius, 3-2.
