B. Opal Wert of Lock Haven, passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, surrounded by those that loved her. She was the daughter of Paul "Fibber" and Margaret "Molly" McGhee.
She was united in marriage to John E. Wert in 1983. They had a long and loving marriage of almost 30 years. John and Opal were best friends as well as husband and wife. She was a 1957 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Margaret Pilgram, Terry Kiessling, Cathi Rook, Jodi Wagner, Michael Wert and John "Skinny" Wert.
She had 13 beautiful grandchildren that she absolutely adored and three new great-grandchildren which she also adored.
She was preceded in death by her son, John A. Moyer.
Nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by her grandchildren and their many friends, in the kitchen cooking for them their favorites. She loved Scrabble anytime of the day or night. She thoroughly enjoyed the competition from her loved ones and apparently taught them all too well because they were constantly outwitting her. Her beautiful gardens were her secret away. Her ultimate love was the ocean.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Ross Library, 232 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
