Robert E. Bower, 86, of Jersey Shore passed away, Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at home.
He was born Nov. 21, 1925, in Jersey Shore, a son of Grant H. and Elsie (Canada) Bower.
Robert was married to the former Patricia Ann Stone, who survives.
He retired in 2002 from being a longtime farmer. He was also a 20 year ASC member of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Robert enjoyed hunting, reloading hunting shells and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; a son, Grant R. (Sheila) Bower of Diamondhead, Miss. and a daughter Susan Bower Nixon of Miami, Fla.; six grandchildren, Gayle Bower, Bradley Nixon, Jaime Bower, Erin Nixon, Kelley Bower and Robyn Bruno; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Sadie Nixon-Tinney and Timothy Vernette and a sister, Faye Revie of Jersey Shore.
Robert was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Bower while serving in World War II.
Relatives and friends are invited to Robert's Life celebration service 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd.., "A Life celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with Sandra Myers assisted by Rev. David Fishel officiating. A visitation will be held Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. and from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery.
