Miriam M. Skaggs departed this life on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, in Charlottesville, Va. She was born on March 7, 1922, in Jersey Shore, Pa.
Miriam was preceded in death by her parents, Laura E. and Floyd A. Myers; her first husband, James C Pruett Sr.; her second husband, Alan Skaggs; and her sister, June Myers Umstead.
She was loved and will be sadly missed by her two sons, James C. Pruett Jr. of Charlottesville, Va. and William S. Pruett of Orlando, Fla.; stepsons, David and Todd Skaggs; her brother, William A. Myers of Jersey Shore and their families.
Miriam graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1940. She represented Jersey Shore in the 1940 Laurel Festival. After further education in business school she moved to Washington, D.C. to support the war effort, working for the Department of Defense and the Department of Agriculture. She was active in the Grace Presbyterian Church of Springfield, Va., for over 35 years. She enjoyed oriental antiques, and was a member of various glass clubs.
