Vegetable soup available

QUIGGLEVILLE - St. Michael's Lutheran Church, St. Michael's Road, will offer vegetable soup cooked in big kettles over open fire to be sold by the quart at $4. The soup should be ready to be picked up at 11 a.m. Follow Lycoming Creek Road to Powys (two mile detour) then turn left on St. Michael's Road.

Seger Family to perform

Flea market/bake sale

RALSTON - Ralston United Methodist Church will hold a flea market and bake sale from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Ralston Fire Co. Community Hall along Route 14.

LOGANTON - Mt. Pleasant Bible Church, 4561 Long Run Road, will host Independent Gospel Mission representatives Brian and Janice Hampton during the 9 and 10:15 a.m. and 1 p.m. services. Also speaking will be Pastor Jean Joel Delisme, who pastors a church in the suburbs of Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Redeemed to perform

The music group Redeemed will perform during the 9 a.m. worship service at Heshbon Park United Methodist Church, 2898 Heshbon Road.

All-you-can-eat buffet

PENNSDALE - Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church, 658 Village Road, will hold an all-you-can-eat hot buffet catered by Springman's Country Store from 4-7 p.m. This month's menu features oven-roasted bone-in ham and oven roasted turkey. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-10 and free for those under 5. Takeouts are available.

Sojourner Truth Ministries will hold a spaghetti dinner from 4-7:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 601 Market St.

A free community dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. at St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church, 1427 Memorial Ave., featuring chicken nuggets.

Free lunch

Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 900 Elm St., will hold a free lunch for retirees at noon. Free-will donations accepted.

Spaghetti dinner

Lycoming Presbyterian Church, 825 Arch St., will hold a spaghetti dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children.

Dr. Jimmy DeYoung prophecy conference

JERSEY SHORE - Dr. Jimmy DeYoung will be the featured speaker at a prophecy conference hosted by Calvary Baptist Church at the Jersey Shore Area High School auditorium, 701 Cemetery St., from 7-9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday. Current events in light of Biblical Prophecy will be theme. DeYoung has lived in Jerusalem for the last 18 years. He is seen on the "Day of Discovery" television program, which is produced in the Middle East. He also is heard daily and weekly on radio and the Internet, with the latest reports from the Middle East on several networks consisting of more than 1,500 stations. No tickets are required.

Yard and craft sale

LAMAR - Lamar United Methodist Church Circle of Christian Women will hold a yard and craft sale from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Food also will be sold. A limited number of craft tables at $10 each are available. Call 726-3562 to reserve a craft table. The church is at 5029 Nittany Valley Drive.

Chicken barbecue

TROUT RUN - Trout Run United Methodist Church, Route 14, will hold a chicken barbecue from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 9 and under.

Roast beef supper

First Church of Christ (Disciples), 1250 Almond St., will hold a roast beef supper from 4-6:30 p.m. Cost is $8.50 for adults and $4 for children 5-12. Takeouts available.

Dinner, auction to benefit Jamaican trip

WATSONTOWN - Watsontown Christian Academy, 1225 Eighth Street Drive, will sponsor a Jamaican dinner and silent auction at 6 p.m. in the gym. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to begin the silent auction on more than 100 items. The menu will feature Jamaican jerk chicken, regular chicken and Jamaican side dishes. At 7 p.m., the Kingdom Kidz Puppet Ministry, a division of Kingdom Kidz Inc., will present a puppet program that will include Jamaican music. The puppet elective class (The Wuppets), which consists of students grades 8-12, also will participate with the Kingdom Kidz team. Junior and senior class members on the team will travel to Jamaica in February, Cost is $10 for adults, $6 for children 4-10 and free for those under 3. Church schedules block party

New Covenant United Church of Christ, 202 E. Third St., will hold a block party from 2-5 p.m. in the parking lot.

Wenger Family in concert

LEWISBURG - A singspiration and gospel concert by three generations of the Wenger Family will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Lewisburg Bible Church, 311 Hospital Drive (1 mile behind Evangelical Hospital).

Homecoming celebrations

LINDEN - A day of homecoming celebrations will mark the 125th and 141st anniversaries of Pine Run United Methodist Church and St. John's Chapel United Methodist Church, respectively. Both are members of the Linden Parish. The churches will begin the celebration with a combined worship service at 10:45 a.m., followed by a lunch at noon and an afternoon celebration with past pastors at 1:30 p.m. All activities will take place at Pine Run United Methodist, 1719 Pine Run Road, 1.7 miles north of Route 220.

New Worship Service

JERSEY SHORE - St. John Lutheran Church, 229 S. Broad St., will offer a new contemporary worship service at 8 p.m. on Sunday evenings. The service will be in addition to the 8. and 10:30 a.m. services of Word and Sacrament.
