Judith Y. Notestine, 80, of Queen St., McVeytown, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sept. 21, 2012, at her daughter's home in Belleville.
Born Feb. 1, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Virgie (Hertzler) Youtzy. Her husband, John R. Notestine, preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 1990.
Surviving are three children, Michael J. Notestine and wife Lynn of Harrisburg, Beth A. Peachey and husband Gregory of Belleville, Jennifer R. Branca and husband Matthew of Jersey Shore, Pa.; a sister, Cynthia R. Youtzy of Roslyn, Pa.; and seven grandchildren, Quinn, Jacob and Nicholas Notestine, Jonathan Peachey, Spencer, Jordan and Raeanne Branca.
She was preceded in death by a special aunt, Orella Frambes.
A homemaker, she loved spending time with her family and many friends.
Judy was a member of the McVeytown Presbyterian Church where she had served as an elder, deacon, children's Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and moderator of the Presbyterian Women.
She also served on the Presbyterian Women's Auxilary, the flower committee and the memorial committee.
She received the Meritorious Service Award in 2006 for her work with the Presbyterian Women.
Judy was also a member of the Mifflin County Garden Club.
If you knew Judy, you probably received a birthday card from her every year, as she loved to reach out to people with cards and letters. She was a very loving, caring person who reached out to those who were in need.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the McVeytown Presbyterian Church with Rev. Scott Andrews officiating.
Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the McVeytown Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 323, McVeytown, PA 17051, to be used in the construction of a memorial garden in Judy's honor.
