A former Jersey Shore woman who now lives in Glen Burnie, Md., was sentenced to seven years probation and 100 hours community service on charges of tampering with records and access device fraud.
Stephanie D. Jolin, 46, formerly of 340 Maple St., was sentenced for her actions.
County detectives were alerted to Jolin scamming her former boyfriend Nathan Fortson out of nearly $2,000 and obtaining a credit card in his name.
Jolin convinced Fortson to pay her money to help investigate a child support matter and tried to scam Fortson into believing his son was on life support in a Baltimore hospital. Investigators found that Jolin faked the name of a doctor on hospital paperwork.
The woman also fraudulently obtained a credit card in her adult son's name, according to authorities.
Jolin was sentenced Sept. 17 before Judge Marc Lovecchio.
