LEWISBURG - Evangelical Community Hospital is turning up the heat by kicking off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with "Cookin' Men," an event where local celebrity men come together to create culinary delights for people to enjoy while raising funds to support free mammograms for women in the community.
Join the valley's cookin' men as they don aprons from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 4 and create dishes ranging from appetizers, entrees and desserts. The event will be held at the Susquehanna Valley Country Club and includes live entertainment by EVE, a jazz trio from the area.
Tickets may be purchased by calling 522-2685 or by visiting www.evanhospital.com/cookinmen.
All proceeds support Evangelical's Thyra M. Humphreys Center for Breast Health, 210 JPM Road. The center's team of specialists provides comprehensive screenings, diagnosis and treatment for women and gives survivors support through clinics, programs and one-on-one attention with professionals trained to understand the psychological, physical, emotional and social effects of a cancer diagnosis.
This October marks the 27th year of existence for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
