Mother and daughter accused of shoplifting

September 26, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

A mother and daughter have been arrested for allegedly shoplifting at TJ Maxx, 1734 E. Third St., on the afternoon of July 13, state police said.

Jean Marie Vogel, 42, and her daughter, Frankie Lynn Vogel, 21, both of Mill Hall, were nabbed trying to steal $66 worth of merchandise and $103 worth of merchandise respectively, police said.

Jean Marie faces an additional charge of corrupting the morals of a minor because she had her 17-year-old niece with her and she was "showing her how to take items," police alleged in an affidavit. The daughter has been charged with a misdemeanor because it is her second shoplifting arrest while her mother was charged with a summary because it is her first offense, police said.

Both mother and daughter were arraigned before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman and have since waived their preliminary hearings. The two are free on $2,500 bail each.
