Susquehanna Health-Laurel Health partner to navigate tricky health care waters

September 27, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

Susquehanna Health and Laurel Health System announced a partnership of services Tuesday, joining the functions of Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, the Green Home and other Northern Tier facilities with the Williamsport Regional Medical Center, Divine Providence Hospital and Muncy Valley Hospital.

How much medical care in our region has changed since the early 1990s, when hospitals less than a mile apart operated separately and competed with each other.

In today's ever-changing and challenging world of health care, complete independence does not work well for patients, physicians or the ledger sheet.

We see this as yet another move that will make it easier for both Susquehanna Health and Laurel Health to navigate the challenging health care waters ahead.
