MONTOURSVILLE - Route 44 is currently closed due to a tractor trailer accident which took place at about 1 p.m. just south of Ramsey.
First-responders arrived on-scene to discover that the tractor trailer, which was loaded with water, was up on one side. The damaged truck was leaking water and fuel.
The truck was loaded with water, but Im not sure of the specifics grade of water right now. It could be anything from flow back water to clean drinking water, said John Yingling, director of public safety.
According to the state Department of Transportation, Route 44 may remain closed until this evening, while emergency responders from the Independent Fire Co. and Citizens Fire Co. work to clean up leakage and upright the truck.
According to Yingling, members of the Department of Environmental protection are currently at the scene, assessing the accidents environmental impact, if any.
Regular traffic will be detoured via Routes 973, 287, and Little Pine Creek Road.
Vehicles over three tons should follow the detour for larger trucks. This detour will send drivers south on Route 220 to Lock Haven, north on Route 120 to Route 664. Drivers will travel across the river into Dunnstown and then north to Route 44 at Haneyville.
