Local roundup: Lancers overcome 1-0 deficit to beat Warriors

Tyler Quigley scored two second-half goals as Loyalsock won under the lights at Memorial Stadium, defeating Montoursville, 3-1, in a boys soccer game on Wednesday. The Lancers (5-6-1) trailed 1-0 early before Matt Hibbs tied it late in the first half. Quigley then scored twice in less than two minutes in an intense game.

"It was a big win for us," Loyalsock coach Andy Zimmerman said. "Everyone played awesome."

Southern Columbia defeated St. John Nuemann, 5-0. Dylon Swank scored twice for the Tigers.

Muncy surrendered a pair of first-half goals in a 2-1 loss to Benton. Ammar Sabanovic scored the Indians' goals late in the second half. Gavin Weatherfold made nine saves for the Indians.

Behind Gino Caschera's goal just 35 seconds into the match, South Williamsport defeated Sullivan County, 3-0. South Williamsport keeper Rhian Kozen stopped all 11 of Sullivan County's shots in the win.

In girls tennis, Williamsport remained undefeated (13-0) with a 5-0 win over Lewisburg.

Cowanesque Valley won all but No. 5 singles in a 6-1 win over Wellsboro.

In women's soccer, Lycoming's Leslie Kester scored a first-half goal but the Warriors fell to FDU-Florham, 6-1.

In college golf, Penn College edged out Penn State Mont Alto to take the top spot at the Penn State Brandywine Invitational. The Wildcats totaled 335. Sophomore Corey Teeple and freshman Jesse Newman led the Wildcats, shooting 83. The pair finished in a tie for second place in the 44 golfer field.
