Fall rummage sale

The Women's Society Mission Outreach at DuBoistown United Methodist Church, 133 Summer St., will hold a fall rummage sale and luncheon from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Sunday School open house

Third Street United Methodist Church, 931 E. Third St., will hold a Sunday School open house at 8:45 a.m. to introduce parents and children to the Sunday School staff and the new resources for this fall semester. Light refreshments and beverages will be provided. Classes are for adults and children and youth of all ages. At 9:30 a.m. a dedication service will be held to bless the staff, the students and the Exploring God's Word program.

Church briefs submissions

Items submitted for Area Church Briefs will run just once. Those submitting information should indicate which Saturday the item is to be used. To ensure publication, briefs should be submitted at least one week prior to the requested publication date via the Sun-Gazette's Virtual Newsroom or email to religion@sungazette.com. Briefs should be submitted in the following manner and include: Church name, address, event, time, date, cost or other information. (i.e.: All Saints Episcopal Church, 1656 Scott St., will hold a rigatoni and sausage dinner from 4-6:30 p.m. Jan. 13. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children/ or Lairdsville Faith Church, 6786 Route 118, will host Lynn Swizinsky in concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20. )

WATSONTOWN - Shepherd's Community Kitchen at Watsontown United Methodist Church, 1319 Eighth St. Drive, will offer a free lunch starting at 11 a.m. For more information, call the church at 538-1017 or Linda Smith at 538-9373.

Spaghetti dinner

EASTVILLE - Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren youth group will hold a spaghetti and meatball dinner from 4-7 p.m. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Heifer Project, an organization that provides livestock to people in developing countries to help them produce their own food and livelihood resources. Takeouts will be available. The church is at 2305 E. Winter Road.

Trout Run Community Days

TROUT RUN - Trout Run Community Days are set for Saturday and Sunday. The weekend will begin on Saturday with a communitywide yard sale from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. An art show will be held in the Trout Run United Methodist Church narthex from 3-6 p.m. Saturday. The will hold a chicken barbecue beginning at 3:30 p.m. and continuing until the chicken is gone or 6:30 p.m. (whichever comes first). The weekend will conclude with a communitywide worship service in the Trout Run Park along Old Route 15 at 11 a.m. Sunday. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. A picnic will follow and people are asked to bring their table service and a dish to share. In case of rain, the worship service will be held in the church sanctuary. World Communion service

PICTURE ROCKS - World Communion Sunday will be celebrated at the Pictures Rock United Methodist Church at 9 a.m. and at Tivoli United Methodist Church and Picture Rocks United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. James R. Behrens will preach and celebrating the sacrament. Point Bethel and Kedron will celebrate World Communion Sunday on Oct. 7 with the Rev. GayAnn Gearhart celebrating the sacrament. Worship will be at 8:45 a.m. at Point Bethel and at 10 a.m. at Kedron United Methodist churches.

Regular service set

WOOLRICH -Woolrich Community United Methodist Church, 1080 Park Ave., will have worship at the church at 10:30 a.m. as plans for an outdoor service at the park have been canceled. A lunch will follow and attendees are asked to bring a dish to share. Hot dogs and beverages will be provided.

Teacher training set

WELLSBORO - Child Evangelism Fellowship of Tioga County will hold its teacher training kickoff from 6-9 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Wellsboro. All are invited to learn our teaching techniques, which can be used for teaching in Sunday School classes. Light refreshments will be provided.

Women's Bible study

CANTON - "Nurture" Women's Bible Study, a book study by Lisa Bevere, will start today and continue for six weeks at New Life Church, 299 McMurray Road. Sessions will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. Books and workbooks are available for $10. For more information, call the church office at 673-5810.

1st Tuesday dinner

FARRAGUT - Farragut Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, along Route 864 near the intersection with Route 87, will hold its monthly first Tuesday fellowship dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. Free-will donations accepted.

Special speakers set

The American Rescue Workers Community Church, 25 Ross St., will hold special services featuring Pastor Tony Cruz, of Freedom Life Church in Lewisburg, at 6 p.m. Wednesday; Pastor Sean Tymeson, of Lighthouse of Faith in Canton, 6 p.m. Thursday; Pastor Lon Williams, of Liberty Church in Liberty, at 6 p.m. Friday and Jim Bucci, who serves in Youth Ministry at Christ Community Church in State College, at 6 p.m. Saturday.

1st Friday supper

LOGANTON - The first Friday of the month suppers will be held from 4-6:30 p.m. at Albright United Methodist Church, 47 E. Main St., featuring warm lettuce with fried ham. Takeouts are available.

Family thrift shop

Fairfield United Methodist Church, 833 Fairfield Church Road, will hold a family thrift shop from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Charles Billingsley concert, worship conference

Community Baptist Church, 1853 Route 87, will host Charles Billingsley for a concert at 7 p.m. Friday and worship conference from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Billingsley serves as the worship leader at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Va., and is the president of Red Tie Music, a music publishing company. In addition, Billingsley leads worship at conferences for an average of 100,000 people each year. Tickets cost $12 for the concert and $10 for the worship conference. Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 900 Elm St., will hold a rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Indoor craft and yard sale

Third Street United Methodist Church, 931 E. Third St., will hold its annual fall indoor craft and yard sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Tables are available to rent for $12 each by calling 322-0091. Food will be available all day.

Clothing giveaway

UNITYVILLE - Franklin Bethel United Methodist Church, 1595 Route 42, will hold a clothing giveaway from 9 a.m.-noon. There is a large assortment of fall and winter clothes for children, teens, women and men. The church is near the intersection of Routes 42 and 239.

Roast pork dinner

WATSONTOWN - Watsontown United Methodist Church, 1319 Eights St. Drive, will hold a roast pork dinner starting at 4 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 5-12 and 4 and under are free. Chicken, biscuit dinner

JERSEY SHORE - Oriole United Methodist Women will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner from 4-6:30 p.m. at the church, 39 Main Road. Tickets are $6.50 for adults; $4 for children 4-12 and free for children under 4. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Takeouts available.

Singles dance

A dance for singles will be held at Pine Street United Methodist Church, 441 Pine St., from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Cost is $7.50 at the door. No smoking. No alcohol. No denim or jeans.

21st Life Chain set

The 21st annual Lycoming County Life Chain to support the Pro-Life Movement in America will be held on the Golden Strip from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Signs will be available at 2 p.m. at stations along the Golden Strip for those who wish to participate. Revival services set

Revival services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday at First Christian Church, 5329 Lycoming Mall Drive in Montoursville, with Dyke McCord, senior minister at the Church of Christ at Manor Woods, Rockville, Md., serving as the guest speaker.
