HUGHESVILLE - A Jersey Shore man faces charges for allegedly passing a bad check and providing false information on an application when he purchased a firearm at Dixie's Gunshop, 230 N. Railroad St., on Aug. 28, state police said.

Erik Allen Hoffman, 22, of 303 Smith St., is accused of writing a $685 check on a closed account to the business, police said. The issue concerning the application had to do with employer information, police said.

Following his arraignment last week before District Judge James Carn on charges of bad checks and making unsworn falisification, Hoffman was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
