Archibald “Archie,” the House Cat, new “employee” at the SPCA, takes the duty of becoming the mouser for the shelter.
Archie is the shelter's House Cat and accepted the position, which was open because of the death of the previous House Cat.
"We were reluctant to fill this position again due to the added work load related to maintaining this position, but we found that we had a great need for a good mouser," said Victoria Stryker, executive director.
Archie's resume is very short and shrouded in mystery since he arrived at the shelter as a stray. However, his temperament soon won over the interviewers. He quickly adapted to his new surroundings, so much so that he has been found sleeping on the job.
Concessions are being made to his sleeping on the job because someone slipped him some catnip, and since cats are nocturnal (like mice), management at the SPCA is confident that Archie will be a dynamo at chasing the vermin away.
