Bessie I. (BL) Lewis, 71, a resident of Montgomery, Pa., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at her residence. Born in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pa., on Sunday, Nov. 10, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Helen J. (Guisewhite) Weaver.
She was the widow of Charles E. Lewis who preceded her in death in 1978.
Bessie attended the Williamsport High School. She was employed by Carey McFall at Montgomery and retired from Chase Leather Products at Montgomery.
She was a member of the East End Baptist Church at Williamsport, Pa. Bessie was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles at Milton and enjoyed playing darts, fishing and camping.
Bessie is survived by five children, John W. and Lisa Chapman, South Williamsport, Pa., Denny E. and Carol Lewis, Muncy, Pa., Danny B. Lewis, Helen I. Miller, William D Lewis; four brothers, Richard R. Weaver, Montgomery, Pa., Carl G. Weaver and Larry Weaver, Williamsport, Pa., Jerry Weaver, South Williamsport, Pa.; two sisters, Sherley Guthrie and Martha Flick, Williamsport, Pa. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Bessie was preceded in death by one son, Chuck C. Lewis; and one brother, Jesse Weaver.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted in the Green Lawn Memorial Park at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, PA 17756.
