Post W Williamsport, Travelers Protective Association of America will host its annual Police Officer of the Year at Dr. Creighton Hall Grove at Little League International in South Williamsport at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18.
Guest speaker will be retired Pennsylvania State Trooper Richard Reitz.
Reitz served with Troop F in Montoursville from 1966-1991. He was with the traffic unit and served as safety education officer, troop youth aid officer and criminal investigator of child abuse cases.
He is a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in Germany, Texas and Kansas.
He also formed the Pennsylvania State Police Camp Cadet, now known as Lycoming County Police Camp Cadet, in 1976.
Reitz formed the Lycoming County Career Consortium Protective Service Unit and was a teacher at Loyalsock High School He was a part-time driver instructor for the driving clinic and volunteered at Little League World Series as a host uncle.
