Alexander B. "Bud" Umstead, 90, Watsontown, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at the Watsontown Health and Rehab Center.
Born Oct. 7, 1921, in Derry Township, Montour County, he was the son of the late Franklin W. and Gladys L. (Betz) Umstead.
Bud was an Army Air Corp veteran serving for seven years during World War II and the Korean War. He owned and operated Umstead Motors in Watsontown for 60 years. Bud was a member of the Watsontown American Legion, the Turbotville VFW and a life member of the Warrior Run Area Fire Department.

Bud was an avid reader, enjoyed John Wayne and western movies, raced go-carts for many years and belonged to the Muncy-Hughesville Go-cart Club.
Surviving are a sister, Hanna M. (Dale) Oakes of Watsontown; a great-niece, June Johnson and family of Watsontown; and several nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by a sister, Leah Zettlemoyer.
Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Bud Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow in the Washingtonville Lutheran Cemetery.
