Dance to be held at community center
LEWISBURG - Countryside Contra Dancers will hold contra dance from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Oct. 13, at the Donald Heiter Community Center, 100 N. Fifth St.
There will be live music by Jill Smith and Ryck Kaiser with Bob Nicholson calling lively dances.
New England Contra Dance is a traditional dance form rooted in Irish, English and Scottish jigs, reels and waltzes.
Contra dancing is easy and energetic, mostly involving a smooth walking step. All dances are taught, with the basic figures taught from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Newcomers of all ages are welcome, with or without a partner. Participants should wear comfortable clothes, and soft soled, non-marking shoes.
Hat trunk show, luncheon planned
WELLSBORO - The Fifth Season will host a hat show luncheon and trunk show featuring Christine Moore's Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 collection from noon to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the store, 100 Main St.
Moore is a well-known milliner who has designed hats for celebrities including Katy Perry, Halle Berry, Diane Keaton and Susan Lucci. She has been featured in magazines including Bazaar, Allure, Marie Claire, Country Living and Shape.
Moore, of Christine A. Moore Millinery, Manhattan, also will have an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day.

Local Mayflower descendants to meet
LEWISBURG - The Susquehanna Chapter of the Pennsylvania Mayflower Descendants Society will hold a "Dutch treat" meeting at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 13 at Country Cupboard Restaurant.
Any person who wishes to join the society should bring necessary papers.
