Williamsport Sun-Gazette

SELINSGROVE - Jonaida Williams, of Williamsport, was selected to be a Presidential Fellow for the 2012-13 academic year at Susquehanna University.

Each year, about 20 sophomore students are selected to be Presidential Fellows. Deans and department heads nominate students who they feel have the academic ability, enthusiasm and interest to benefit from co-curricular discussions of literature, theater and current events.

During the course of the year, the fellows are assigned two books to read and then discuss with University President L. Jay Lemons, his wife Marsha and other selected faculty and staff.

The experience culminates in a trip, usually to New York City or Washington, D.C., to attend a theater production and perhaps interact with an author or artist. This year, the fellows will read and discuss "March" by Geraldine Brooks.

A sophomore secondary education major, Williams is a 2011 graduate of Loyalsock Township High School and the daughter of Kimberly Feay.
