Andrew J. Gummo, 16 - son of Cassandra and John Gummo, of Watsontown; grandson of Sandra and J. Ralph Hoyt Jr., of Montoursville; and Joyce and John Gummo, of Beech Creek - received the Eagle Scout Award during an Eagle Court of Honor on April 29.
Gummo has been actively involved in the Scouting program for the past 10 years.
Gummo started Scouting in 2002 as a Cub Scout in Pack 3610, sponsored by Trinity United Church of Christ.

Gummo received his Bobcat Badge in 2002 and worked his way through the ranks of Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos I and Webelos II. He earned the Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouting, in 2007.
During his time in Cub Scouting, Gummo participated in a variety of activities including camping, Pinewood Derby racing, rain gutter regattas, fundraisers and other Pack 3610 events.
His most memorable experiences while a Cub Scout included his championship runs at the Pinewood Derby.
He then crossed over and joined Boy Scout Troop 610, sponsored by Watsontown United Methodist Church.
He advanced through the ranks of Tenderfoot (Dec. 8, 2008); Second Class (March 9, 2009); First Class (Jan. 18, 2010); Star Scout (June 28, 2010) and Life Scout (Jan. 02, 2011) on his trail to the Eagle.
Gummo has been an active member of Boy Scout Troop 610, participating in a variety of activities including camping, patrol outings, service projects, fundraisers and other troop events.
He attended resident camp at Camp Karoondinha for four years. Another camping trip included camping at Gettysburg where he completed the activities required to earn the complete Gettysburg Badge.
In 2010, Gummo was called out, performed an ordeal of silence, obedience and service, and became a member of the Order of the Arrow. In 2011, he was inducted into the Brotherhood.
For his Eagle service project, he refurbished the baseball field facilities at the Warrior Run High School, Turbotville. He spent more than 34 hours on this project and had volunteers helping for an additional 98 hours.
The dugouts were repaired, primed and painted. The fencing was sanded and repainted. A door was replaced and painted for the equipment storage area.
On the trail to Eagle, Gummo earned 36 merit badges, 15 more then required for Eagle.
Gummo is a junior at Warrior Run High School.
He is active in school activities and competes on the school football and baseball teams. Gummo is a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
